Massage Therapy for Hair Loss and Alopecia

About one third of men will be affected by baldness or thinning scalp hair. Some women will also be affected. In the future, there will be effective drug therapies to stimulate hair regrowth. However, these are not yet available. For the present, surgical treatment involving hair transplant is available from some specialist dermatologists.

Hair is in a constant cycle of growth, rest and renewal - it is natural to lose some hair each day. The main causes of permanent hair loss are genetic and hormonal. Male hormones probably cause baldness. However, other hormones may contribute to hair loss in women. This can often be corrected with medication.
